Edward Philip Dabdoub is a specialized Florida Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) attorney who joined Wagar Law, P.A., in 2005. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Mr. Dabdoub is one of five attorneys in his immediate family. His practice areas include ERISA, insurance coverage disputes, bad faith claims and commercial litigation. As a plaintiff's only attorney, Mr. Dabdoub focuses his practice on the representation of individuals, never insurance companies. He has experience litigating cases in both state and Federal court against many insurance companies, including but not limited to Northwestern Mutual, Hartford, Colonial Life, Life Insurance Company of North America (LINA), Liberty Life, Met Life and others.
Mr. Dabdoub advises his clients on matters pertaining to the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA), particularly with respect to disability insurance benefits. When appropriate, he files claims on behalf of clients entitled to benefits through private or group policies, handling appeals of wrongful denials.
Mr. Dabdoub received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Miami and went on to earn a Masters in Business Administration (with a concentration in International Business) from Florida International University, where he graduated at the top of his class. Mr. Dabdoub went on to graduate cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law. While at law school, he was the recipient of the Ambassador Sue Cobb Scholarship. During his last semester in law school, he was authorized by the Florida Supreme Court to practice law as a Certified Legal Intern where he vigorously defended the rights of indigent defendants at the Miami-Dade Public Defender's Office. Prior to joining Wagar Law, P.A., Mr. Dabdoub interned at the City of Coral Gables, City Manager's Office and the Miami-Dade State Attorneys Office. Mr. Dabdoub's business background is well-suited for serving the needs of the firm's clients, especially in the context of calculating pre-disability earnings and monthly disability benefits.
Mr. Dabdoub is a published writer regarding legal matters, having co-authored an article published in the Florida Medical Business News (Volume 22, Number 13; July 21, 2008) titled Disability Claims: Know Your Rights. He is currently admitted to the practice of law in the State of Florida, the United States District Court Southern District of Florida, and the United States District Court Middle District of Florida.
